Gastro Pub Philadelphia

The two-level, 135-seat restaurant celebrates the best in contemporary British cuisine, and draws inspiration from the U.K.’s great gastropubs, where modern, internationally-influenced flavors and lighter, seasonal updates on traditional fare create a unique dining experience. Norwich, England native, Chef Robert Aikens helms The Dandelion’s kitchen and offers a variety of menus—including bar snacks, a mid-day sweet and savory tea menu and Sunday roasts. Complementing his cuisine, is a food-friendly beer list featuring U.K. drafts and bottles that are rare stateside, along with three, constantly-rotating cask ales.

We had a fabulous romantic meal here. The vibe is very fun and energetic. It is a cozy warm place with a fun noisy bar downstairs and quieter romantic tables upstairs. The food is unique and delicious. The waiter was attentive and told us all about the menu. There is something for everyone. This place is a real find!

The Dandelion has a lot of character- it feels like an old English inn. The food is mostly traditional British, and while the portions aren’t huge, I think the prices are worth it. Everyone I had dinner with enjoyed their meal. The specialty cocktails are all $10-14 and are pretty good. They also have decent wine, beer, and cider options. I think The Dandelion is a good place to take someone who’s visiting mostly because of the unique atmosphere, but the food is also very good.

Best Caesar salad ever. I am addicted to Caesar salads, and they pushed it up a notch with addition of pickled onions, slices of dill pickles, and capers. Truly delicious. Also had the fish and chips – best fry job I’ve ever seen – and the burger, which was rich and completely satisfying for any omnivore.
Chips are thick cut potato fries and perfectly crisped and browned.
Good wine selection and cocktail list. Also very cool ambience, evoking a kind of living room/hunting room of some British mansion, you can even sit on a couch in front of a fireplace to eat. Also accommodated a very late reservation and the waitstaff was wonderful, even at 10pm!
