Luxury Boutique Hotel London

Sanderson, in the heart of London’s West End, offers a retreat from the bustle of the city into a world of fantasy and well-being. The landmarked 1950s building has been transformed by Philippe Starck into a surreal Cocteau-like dream world, epitomising a new luxury that is smart, pared-down and tempered with a healthy dose of wit and irony.  With newly renovated rooms concepted by designer Tim Andreas of Banjo, the rooms maintain their sense of whimsy while offering state of the art details and luxurious touches at every turn. Agua spa, Sanderson’s renowned temple of body and soul, offers a vast array of treatments to pamper and soothe, restore and resurrect. Multiple dining and cocktail offerings grace Sanderson. Guests can dine al fresco year round at Courtyard Garden, and our Mad Hatters Afternoon Tea is on the “must-do” lists of London’s elite. Purple Bar provides an intimate space for cocktails and conversation, while the Billiard Room evokes an old world clubby vibe. Just steps from Oxford Street shopping and the Soho district in London, Sanderson is a five star luxury boutique hotel ideally located for weekend breaks or business travel.

I attended a friend’s party at the Courtyard Garden and Long Bar; had a fabulous evening. The staff was extremely helpful, friendly, polite and courteous. Everyone was made to feel welcome, and ensured we all had constant drinks and nibbles; we didn’t want for anything.
The decor was fabulous – and the cleanliness was of a very high standard. The restrooms were stylish, clean, but sadly up several flights of stairs; the accessible restroom was clean, quite roomy, but unfortunately it was very basic- disabled guests and visitors do like a bit of luxury as well, but as in most establishments, the accessible restrooms are always very basic.

The Sanderson is low key on the outside, but replete with modern opulence on the inside. The long bar is elegant, but the strong low-level lighting isn’t a flattering choice if you’re trying to look your best for a date. The cocktails are an adventure, and luckily they come in a mini selection ‘flight’ if you want to sample them. The service is excellent, as you’d expect for the price tag. If the bar is too attention-seeking, there are more subdued corners, and the courtyard is perfect on a dry evening.

I came here for the Mad Hatter’s Afternoon Tea. I wanted afternoon tea in London, and I’m fascinated with Alice in Wonderland, so this worked out. I enjoyed the Cheshire Cat tea. It was an orange flavored tea. Everything was pretty good, but it’s so filling. There are finger-sized sandwiches, desserts, scones, teas, and ice cream at the end! I had bubbly with mine. I made the mistake of sitting outside as the weather was cold and not suitable for this Cali girl. Luckily, blankets were available and the heaters were on.
